Product Review:The YAASSes and NAHs of the Sims 4

Here is a rundown of the ups(YASSS!) and downs(nah...) of the brand new Sims 4. Take note that as time goes by, I'll be adding more things down here so be sure to check back! (I'm kinda busy with school so the yasss section will be incomplete for now)

The NAHs

I have reasons why I stopped playing the Sims 4 four days after I had received the game.

1.  No burglars

For some, it might be a good news, but for me, it will make the game less challenging.

I found out that there were no burglars when I was looking in the buy mode for a burglar alarm. I was puzzled at first, but then I realized that they didn't add one in the game. Plus, there are also no repairmen.

2.  No repairmen

Yep, you read that right. No more handy-dandy people to fix your broken Bargain John or Porcelain Throne. Now, you just have the option to repair the broken appliance yourself, or just replace it, which is really annoying. If our toilet in real life's broken, we don't repair it ourselves because we might make the damage worse and we won't even buy a brand new one either because that just sounds stupid. We call the professionals for help, right?

3.   No more create-a-style

For me, this was the best feature ever in the Sims series and you can't have it in The Sims 4? I don't know if the'ye doing this so they could release this feature in more expensive, upcoming expansion packs and they will have more money. Sigh. Well, we really can't have it all.

4.  No terrain sculpting

YES!! Pools and toddlers and burglars aren't the only ones missing in the base game. I just can't believe how they had thought of removing this essential feature in the game. For me, it's okay for them to take away toddlers (like, who wants additional headaches anyway? haha! sorry; a 'hates children' sim here!) and pools (good thing this coming November, a patch will be available for the addition of pools!), but not this terrain sculpting tool!!

5.  Annoying outline

See? She looks photoshopped with that ugly white outline

When you place your mouse on objects and sims, a white outline covering the sim or object appears, which I find not visually appealing. Good thing, there's an update that enables you to toggle this off.

6.  Weird Throw-a-party

The new Throw-a-Party(now called Plan a Social Event) has ups and downs.

7.  No more World Editor

This is the worst that they had eliminated. This is the reason why I stopped playing the Sims 4. For me, it's okay for us not to have that open neighborhood like we used to have in the Sims 3, but to eliminate the feature that enables us to put lots of different sizes in the world is clearly NOT A GOOD IDEA.

The YAASSes

On the bright side, Sims 4 has also something good to share. Here are some:

1.  Goodbye Night Toggle Mode, Hello to Time Toggle Mode!

I wasn't expecting this new feature, but this is really one great, great addition!

2.  Super Eye Candy!

Sims 3 may be for more realistic graphics, but it always looks pixelated. The Sims 4, on the other hand, showcases a little touch of a cartoon feel, but it really looks slick and smooth! Plus, morning rays are visible around 8 am, and you can also see the trees moving. I just love it!

3.   Loving the emotions!

Emotions bring another challenging but interesting

4.  Sit on bed

5.   Knock on door

LOL! Long are the days that our sims press on an imaginary doorbell button.
